Acomb Hockey Club was formed in 1968 with the amalgamation of Phoenix Hockey Club and York Spartans Hockey Club (who were formerly known as York Corporation Hockey Club).
The club became a sports section of Acomb Sports Club, which continues now, sharing a home ground and clubhouse with Acomb Cricket Club and formerly Acomb Tennis Club.
In the past we have toured as far afield as Canada, Barcelona, and Bournemouth.
Our post-match hospitality and club socials take place at Acomb Sports Club (The Cricket Pavilion) The Green, Acomb, York YO26 5FG. A 2023 refurbishment makes this a great spot for post-match pints and refreshments.
For 25/26, Acomb Hockey Club membership costs remain the same:
£100 Subscription, £10 Match Fees for Adults
£50 Subscription, £5 Match Fees for Concessions (£25 subscription for Juniors)
With an optional "All In" cost of £260/£130.
Inclusivity, and therefore affordability, will always be a core value of AHC.
Training for all takes place during the hockey season, 7:30-8:30pm on Wednesday evenings at Energise Sports Centre. Please get in contact for more info. In the summer, we run 'Social Hockey' sessions for all, from complete beginner to veteran.
We play our home matches at Energise Lesiure Centre, Cornlands Road, Acomb, York, YO24 3DX. The pitch was relaid in 2019, providing an excellent, fast playing surface.
From the 2020-21 season, our teamwear has been provided by STC Teamwear.
We have an online club shop with a range of club merchandise from STC, including match shirts. For the 25-26 season we have added more leisurewear items.
Our playing kit is orange shirts, black shorts, orange socks.
